climate studies
Explore the atmosphere, from the surface to the stratosphere and beyond standard radiosonde measurements. Portable sounding systems for university field campaigns, atmospheric research and climate observation programmes.
From field campaign to analysis
Turn each ascent into
research-ready observations.
Measure atmospheric structure alongside data from compatible scientific instruments, then bring the results into your analysis workflow.
Prepare
Configure the sounding in D-Met and connect compatible external instruments to the iMet-54 Research radiosonde.
Measure
Record temperature, humidity and GNSS-derived winds alongside XData from attached sensors during the balloon ascent.
Receive
Use the portable iMet-3050A to receive 403 MHz telemetry through a single USB connection to the field computer.
Analyse
Review graphs and reports in D-Met, retain instrumentation metadata, and export XData as CSV or text for further analysis.
A portable research system
Two instruments.
More possibilities for research.
Pair the 403 MHz iMet-54 Research radiosonde with the iMet-3050A receiver and D-Met sounding software for field-based upper-air observations.

Research Radiosonde
Standard radiosonde measurements with an external interface for compatible intelligent sensors, including ECC ozonesondes. Research data travels with the sounding telemetry.
Explore the iMet-54 Research →XData capacity is up to 316 bytes, or 156 bytes with error correction. The extended XData1 protocol supports individual packets larger than 256 bytes. Select the radiosonde configuration and sensor interface for your instrumentation requirements.
Balloon-borne ozonesondes provide detailed profiles of ozone through the atmosphere, supporting research and long-term observation.

Understand the atmosphere
layer by layer.
Atmospheric processes
Explore temperature, moisture and wind structure during focused field campaigns, including inversions and changes between atmospheric layers.
Ozone and sensor research
Connect compatible ECC ozonesondes or other intelligent instruments to collect additional observations alongside the meteorological profile.
Climate observation programmes
Build repeated vertical observations for comparison across seasons and campaigns, with calibration records and consistent methods supporting meaningful analysis.
University field teaching
Give students practical experience in sounding preparation, launch operations, data collection and interpretation using the same measurement workflow as a research campaign.
